About the Image(s)
This is titled "Boy in Hvar", and was shot in May in Croatia. I am curious what others will think of it, and am wondering if the steeple to the right should be eliminated, since I can't seem to straighten it without changing the rest of the image. I like how the boy is a little blurred, showing movement, and the texture of the stones. This was shot with my phone. I appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Laura
I like the mood of this image. The soft colors of sunset and the reflection of the lights off the cobblestones are very pleasing. The building and cobblestones act as a nice leading line, and the cobblestones have great texture. The boy is the subject and I think is placed too far to the right but you nicely avoided having him overlap with the busy background in front of him. I think if you crop (unless you maintain a square crop and crop from the upper left of the image) you will push him ever further to the edge of the image. We visited Croatia a number of years ago. I am impressed at how clean the street is in your image.

Thanks, Harry. It's a lovely country, isn't it?   Posted: 11/04/2025 20:14:33
Laurie, this is a gorgeous image that tells a story and piques the imagination. I visited Croatia many, many years ago and clearly there is more development now. Your image has me longing to go back, but I doubt if I ever will get the chance, so I really appreciate your share.
I tried using the Perspective Warp in Photoshop to straighten the tower and buildings on the right side of the image.   Posted: 11/04/2025 04:59:17

Teresa, thanks so much. My husband and I loved it there as well. I only use Lightroom, so am looking forward to trying out Perspective Warp - I never heard of it!   Posted: 11/04/2025 20:17:57

I am amazed you took this interesting photo with your phone! Yes, the steeple is slightly crooked, and I would be tempted to remove the top of it in Lightroom. The lines of the stones, along with the leading lights, significantly enhance the image, drawing the boy towards the town. Teresa's suggestion is perfect, but I am not familiar with Perspective Warp either.   Posted: 11/05/2025 20:32:08
