"adult green" iguana by Kathleen Colligan

January 2025 - "adult green" iguana

About the Image(s)

This photo is of an invasive "adult green" iguana spread across Florida, USA. The adults turn orange, while the younger ones are bright green. They can be very destructive to the environment, so culling them is encouraged. They are not native but were brought over on cargo ships in the 1960s and spread rapidly. But they are exciting to photograph. This one was located on our Florida property on 1/29/24.
1/500 sec F11 ISO 600 SonyA7iii I did not do much post-processing except darkening a bright spot and adjusting brightness and contrast. Kathleen Colligan

Nice DOF to focus on the eye and scales. It's too cold in Maryland for them to live and survive, I think.   Posted: 01/08/2025 16:54:19

Wonderful detail and I really like the colours - you nailed them perfectly.

Who says the dinosaurs died out? Here is proof they did not!. Perfectly shot. The eye is sharp and seems to be looking at you. The background is nicely blurred. Really pops. Nicely done.   Posted: 01/08/2025 19:01:26

This guy looks scary. How large do they get? Very nice shot of him, and you captured him perfectly.   Posted: 01/11/2025 16:07:02
