About the Image(s)
Cotswolds' Village England The story is not about the image but the camera. We were told this is one of the most photographed places in the Cotswolds.
Olympus C3000Z @ 3.3 megapixels -- a point-and-shoot introduced in May 2000, just in time for our trip to England. The cost of the camera in 2000 was $799.00. The cost of the camera today is $58.90.
This image was at f/3.2 at 1/400 sec and ISO 100.
WOW! How camera prices have increased, and so have the megapixels.
The camera was a real stretch of the budget and so was a 3-week trip.

awesome picture , it is true point and shoot are really good for capturing landscapes and most of the travel photography pictures. I use my SONY RX10M4 for my travels most of the time.   Posted: 01/08/2025 02:00:44

Some of my favorite and award-winning images were taken with Nikon, Olympus, or Canon point-and-shoot cameras. I remember an article by a famous photographer who was told, "Anyone can take award-winning images with expensive cameras." The photographer then bought the cheapest point-and-shoot camera he could find and continued to take award-winning photographs.

It is amazing the progress that technology has given us as photographers but also equally amazing that an image like this serves to remind us that 400 gajillion pixels are not the answer. Our artistic vision is far more important.
Really like how the lawn, pathway and stonewall leads us into the image.
Great image - love it.   Posted: 01/08/2025 17:28:14

Thank you, Keith. Any story image is about the vision and the personal brain behind the instrument, regardless of the megapixels.   Posted: 01/08/2025 21:27:20

I really like this. Thee is so much to look at and the cottage and the grounds are picturesque and interesting. The lower right driveway is a bit too bright for me and I would burn in it a stop so it does not pull my eye away from the rest and best.   Posted: 01/08/2025 18:53:43

The sidewalks and driveway lead me right to the front door of this beautiful cottage. I took photos with a bridge camera (Sony RX10 iv) that won several club contests, and your photo is proof of that. Did you stoop down to get this view of the cottage?   Posted: 01/10/2025 17:14:34

Thanks for the comment. No, I did not have to stoop down. The cottage is on a hill, and I was at the bottom of the steep driveway. Side note: The owner came out to mow the grass with a "hover" lawn mower. It was an unknown machine to me.   Posted: 01/10/2025 18:12:21

I wonder when those fabulous houses were built. It looks like a magical place, and your eye is drawn to the front door so pleasantly. I, too, would like to see the lower right driveway darkened a bit or perhaps partially cropped. This is just lovely.   Posted: 01/11/2025 15:59:11
