It is true. Photography is about light. As I walked along a dock in Duck, North Carolina (one of my happy places) I came across this scene. The toal range is wonderful, the sky and the water are different, but clearly aligned with each other’s colors. The shops on the boardwalk add scale and perspective and pulls the eye into the scene. As you can see, I liked this. I hope you do, too.
It was shot on November 2nd, 2024. My camera for this was a Fuji X100IV. It has a fixed focal length 40 mm lens and a 40 megapixel crop sensor. Settings were f8, ISO 400, auto shutter, and IS.

What a great image - I can picture sitting on a bench by the railing with a cup of coffee and enjoying the scenery. The sky has lovely character and the reflections make it even better. Looks like it was low tide when you got the shot - higher water level would have given even more of the sky reflection.
In my VF I cropped the image looking to remove a bit of the right hand side. I know this makes the boardwalk play a more prominent role in the image and that may not work for your vision of the image. Just thought I'd see what it looks like. Posted: 11/06/2024 16:13:10

This is lovely, and your description fits perfectly. I am inclined to like the crop on the right side that Keith did - especially since the water over there isn't nearly as beautiful as it is on the left. I like this a lot. Posted: 11/06/2024 22:03:18
