August 2026 - Cloudy morning on the beach

I love the energy of the beach! The evening sunsets and morning sunrise are my favorite subjects. This morning was cloudy and I missed the sunrise but it was beautiful in its own aura. I especially liked how the inhabitants were the birds near where the lifeguard will arrive several hours later.

The overturned rescue boat and the empty lifeguard stand tell a nice story - the human world is coming, but not yet. I also agree that cropping may help this image. Placing the horizon at the lower third rather than the center, may give the dramatic clouds even more of a dramatic presence. The horizon could also be leveled in the photo as it appears to be sloping down to the left.

Very good sharp and straight photograph. You captured the story very well, with the gulls taking advantage of the beach before people arrive. I agree with cropping the sky down a little, that will help bring the gulls, bench and boat more into the middle of the photo. I'm not sure about cropping the beach because there are some footprints in the foreground that that you might want to save. Nice shot. Posted: 08/04/2026 20:13:14

Thanks Rose... the lines on the beach are tracks from the machines that clean the beach early in the morning before the crowd arrives... they are part of the story ... but I could crop more of them out. Posted: 08/23/2026 19:14:07
