About the Image(s)
Sunset at Sandyhook in the summer is when vacationers from around the world converge on this sleepy old fisherman town on the Jersey shore. I wanted to capture the stillness before the storm.
Shot with an iPhone 13 and native edit with cropping at the top.

Looks a lovely and peaceful place to be to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
You have coped well with the exposure of the sun and no blow out.
I had a go and took the image into ACR and brought out some more detail in the shadows. I also cropped some off the bottom and straightened the horizon which was sloping to the right.

A good shot of the ocean with some red sky in the background. Getting the people by the water to the side of the stop sign helps add context to how much water there is. I do agree with Angels's change of making the photo brighter. Good shot.   Posted: 07/03/2026 01:08:19
Nice photo of a lovely scene. Straightening the horizon would improve the image. I also agree with Angela's suggestion of bringing out more detail in the shadow.   Posted: 07/03/2026 13:09:38
Stunning sunset! I like the little details also: the figures, pathways and others give the image interest. Brightening and a little cropping, as Angela suggests, might "Pop" the sunset even more. It is a lovely scene!   Posted: 07/03/2026 18:01:23
This sunset photograph succeeds beautifully at its stated goal of capturing stillness. The warm golden-orange horizon glowing just above the waterline - with that soft gradient melting upward into cool lavender sky - is genuinely lovely. The dark silhouetted foreground of road, stop sign, and tree creates a strong framing device that draws the eye irresistibly toward the luminous horizon, and the two tiny, silhouetted figures standing at the water's edge add a deeply human touch - small against the vast, glowing bay. Straightening the image and cropping some off the bottom may help reinforce the broad horizontal beauty of the sunset. A beautiful, honest, and quietly moving image.   Posted: 07/10/2026 03:43:40
