About the Image(s)
Connecticut saw only two winter storms this year; this photo captured one of them: a night of freezing rain. The subject is a Crabapple tree. The cardinal in the finished is an add-on.

I expect you are glad you didn't have more than two winter storms!! Looks really. I hate the snow and luckily this winter we had very little in this part of Wales, UK.
Putting the Cardinal in gives the eye something to focus on.
Well done.   Posted: 07/01/2025 16:00:05

The original has a lot of detail of the snow and ice covered branches. Adding the cardinal adds interest. Perhaps making the bird sharper would improve the image.   Posted: 07/04/2025 21:55:45

I live in Minnesota and we get trees covered like this every year.
Adding the cardinal was a big help to the photograph. The branches incased in ice is cool to look at, but adding the cardinal adds a little bit of a story to the photo. Good photo.

Mark, your image beautifully captures the quiet drama of winter. The icy branches glisten with texture, and the added cardinal introduces a striking focal point and narrative. Slight sharpening of the bird could enhance realism, but overall, a compelling and poetic scene.   Posted: 07/29/2025 00:18:40
Mark, I lived at Illinois and saw this a lot. Personally I enjoyed the snow scenery but do not like live there.
