About the Image(s)

Taken with my Canon R5, 24-70mm lens
f/8, ISO 100, 1/10sec
My daughter gave me a few pots that she had made and I thought one was the right size for Lavender flowers in my garden at the moment.I wanted a fairly high key image so placed subject onto a white roll wallpaper and a small light off to the right hand side just to lighten up the front of the flowers.
In PS I cropped and made the BG white. Using the elipse tool I drew a circle with using a large feather behind the subject. Using a colour selected from the lavender I filled the circle. I dropped the opacity down till I was happy with it as did not want it to dominate the subject.
On a new layer, using the marquee tool I made a keyline and then duplicated that layer and moved the second one off to one side just to make a bit more intterest.

Lovely image. I find the double key line very innovative.   Posted: 07/04/2025 07:47:53

A beautiful image of a very simple subject. The off to the side key line adds interest as does the purple circle behind the subject. Having a few flowers at the bottom of the vase adds interest and connects it to the other flowers.   Posted: 07/04/2025 21:52:04

Angela, I have been thinking of photographing some Poppys near my home and your image encouraged me to try it. Thanks for visiting my bluebird image on group 91. Bruce Benson   Posted: 07/06/2025 21:52:25

Another creative shot Angela. I had to look up high key image and AI describes it as bright and airy, dominated by light tones and minimal shadows, often evoking a positive or cheerful mood, and I think that you captured that here. I really like the lavender background, and the key line border appears to be a pastel color as well. One little thing is that the pot looks tilted to the right. But maybe that is intentional judging by the lavender petals that you placed at the bottom. Good photograph.   Posted: 07/07/2025 12:49:46

Angela: This is a beautiful creation made from a few simple components. Choosing lavender is always a good start, especially since it's growing in your garden. I like the lavender petals at the base of your vase, as it beautifully balances the entire image.

Angela, I'm inspired by your creativity-transforming a simple vase into an elegant, artful portrait. The soft lavender tones and gentle lighting create a serene mood, while the offset keyline adds a distinctive, modern touch. A beautifully composed, uplifting image.
