About the Image(s)
Taken with my Canon R5, 24-70mm lens. f/4, 1/40 sec, ISO 100
Found a bunch of Teazel heads whilst out walking my dog and trying to get round all the flooded areas we have had!!
Arranged them in a piece of oasis foam. Placed a soft box behind them and then placed a piece of black card directly behind them to try and get some rim lighting. Not overly successful but able to bring out the details in PS using levels. Used levals also to get the background black all over plus some with the brush tool. Finished with a thin white keyline.

They make such an interesting subject. The back lighting worked well to give it rim lighting. The black background and white key line make it stand out.
I noticed that you had the light shine behind the black background. Interesting how it would make a rim lighting.
It is such a simple subject and so effective.   Posted: 12/02/2024 13:47:01

I like the black background, and a good technique lesson. I would not have guessed that putting the black card between the light and subject would help with this effect. I like how you were able to get the needles and thorns to show the white lines. I can't think of anything to change, you even accounted for symmetry with how you have arranged the height of each Teazel. Good photo.   Posted: 12/05/2024 00:03:33

Angela,
I like the original better. Kidding aside, post-processing is successful as to all of it! It is a bit static, but I love the way you draw out the details and lighting of the fine details. Sharp and shiny. It feels slightly tight to me on the left and right. I am not sure but probably would have cloned out the bottom middle brownish leaf. Beautifully done.   Posted: 12/16/2024 21:47:22

Such interesting subjects! I love the rim lighting you achieved showing all the details on the flower heads and stems. I like the symmetry in your arrangement! I think it makes a very eye pleasing picture. Well done!   Posted: 12/20/2024 04:11:08
