About the Image(s)

This flower image (From the golden shower plant) was captured from the farm house called ASTRAS in Pabna area of Bangladesh; I visited the farm on 5th July 2024. The ASTRAS remain filled with many gardens of seasonal flowers. Whenever I get an opportunity I use it as much as possible to shoot the flowers from those beautiful gardens.

I used my Samsung S 23 Ultra mobile's camera for the images (It was an early morning and I shot hand held & without gimbal). with no flash compulsory, I captured the image. I used Photoshop CS6 for editing and post processing (to crop & discard) to create this, out of the original image before submission.

I hope you will enjoy the image and kindly give me your feedback on it.

First I want to know where to go to learn how to use my S23 Ultra camera. :)
For me - the white areas distract from what is a very good capture. I took the liberty to crop a little from the right and remove the white spots.   Posted: 07/10/2024 05:23:15

Dear Marti,
Greetings my friend.

My apologies for the delay reply. From 18th onward Bangladesh went in a chaos and all communication network and internet was shut down.

I was travelling in between to Indonesia for 2nd PSA PG 2024. I am just back yesterday late night.

I appreciate your observation and you did a great edit, better than me I believe. Thank you again.
Kindest regards.

Great capture Kamal with nice composition, and short focus, and a fantastic edit by Marti to remove those distractions created by the white spots. The image does show the scale between the fly and the golden shower plant.   Posted: 07/12/2024 20:24:53

Hi Bob,
Greetings my friend.
Apology for the last minute response, as my country was going through a complete communication disruption from 18th July and I was also out of the country.

I am just back yesterday and putting my feedback for the image. I appreciate your kind words and surely, Marti did a pretty good job. Love the edit.

Thank you again.
Cheers.

Hi Kamal. My first reaction was "Who is that masked creature?!?" Just kidding.... This is great capture of the plant and the fly. I love how you've captured the details of the fly and his hairy derriere. The green highlights on the fly really connects him to his surroundings. I agree that the white areas are distracting and unnecessary. I would probably eliminate them completely, by selecting the bud, then its inverse and cloning from the green blur of the rest of the background on the left. I think your model needs a name :)   Posted: 07/15/2024 18:49:34

Hi Ingrid,
Greetings my friend.
Once again apology for last minute response due to situation beyond my control.
I am humbled by your kind words. I agree with you on the white spot. Next time when I edit I will surely consider them. The model should be given a name- what would be your suggestion on that ???!!
Kindest regards.

Hi Kamal, what a lovely capture and well spotted. For me there's a story there, is the fly there as a pollinator or just landed for a feed?
Marti's edit is great in removing the distractions. Overall, well done.   Posted: 07/16/2024 11:04:16

Hi Nadia,
Greetings my friend.
I was unable to make the response on time due the internet disruption in the country.
However thank you for your kind comment. I guess it was there for a feed as I noticed.
Yes Marti did a great job there on the edit.
Thanks and cheers.

Kamal, I'm amazed your smartphone was able to capture this. It's close to what a macro lens can do. The colors are great and I like the way the fly is presented on the bud. I do wish there was a bit more room above the fly's head and the image seems a bit soft overall. I wondering if running it through something like Topaz sharpen would help. Anyway, nice job!   Posted: 07/16/2024 16:50:00

Hi Rich
Greetings my friend.
Thank you for your comment. yes, we wouldn't know what else these smart phones could even do. They are upgrading by the hour I believe. Your suggestions on Topaz sharpen well noted my friend.

Nice image. I really would consider upgrading to the PS cloud. Eliminating the white spots would be nothing for Generative Fill.   Posted: 07/23/2024 01:03:57
