About the Image(s)

The original image was brought into Photoshop and I used my Action for Polar Coordinates: Go to Filter-Distort-Polar Coordinates. Then I used Convert: Polar to Rectanglular. Then I rotated the image 180 degrees. Went back to Filter-Distort-Polar Coordinates and used Convert: Rectangular to Polar. The center of the image will determine the background coloring so I may go back and change the crop to get a different color. This will also change the "warp" a little as well.

Marti, this is a unique image and probably the only Amaryllis to be so honored in such fashion. Reading your steps tells me you spent plenty of time to get this image where you wanted. I particularly like the faded veins in the center and lower part of the image and the warped position of the stamens/flower parts at the top of the frame. I do not have any suggestions to improve (yes the color might not be perfect) but that's the natural green from the Amaryllis. I'm going to try one of my daylily pics and see if I can make something as beautiful as this.   Posted: 07/08/2024 20:15:26

Hi Marti. This is a beautiful and unusual rendition of your Amaryllis. Are you aware of the Facebook page "The Nature of Orbs"? I spent a great deal of time a few years ago, working with an action that creates this type of treatment, only square. I was always amazed by the different results based upon where the crop was made, etc. Thanks for sharing this great image.   Posted: 07/15/2024 18:31:58

Marti, I LOVE this. It's other-worldly. Had no idea that this could be accomplished that way. Since I don't use PS I'll have to figure out how to do it is Affinity. Very striking!   Posted: 07/15/2024 23:53:16

Nothing to add. Really wonderful. I might try changing the green; it's a bit murky.   Posted: 07/23/2024 00:59:18
