About the Image(s)

For this month I wanted to submit another sunflower photo. I took the photo with my iphone and wanted to focus on color. To do this I first cropped the photo and then applied a mask to the photo. Separating the background from the flower I decided to push the sunflower to become more yellow while the background was changed to green and blue. I chose this one specifically because of the bench and how it split the image.

Jacob, you continue to improve and have captured this sunflower with a natural background. A minor nit or two. Use the clone or healing tool to remove the white gray mark at 20 after the hour and using a brush to darken the bite leaf at the top right corner area. Keep on with the improvements.   Posted: 09/06/2023 19:18:10

Jacob good eye in catching this lovely huge sunflower. I wonder if you continued further. The treatment of the wood and texture is great. The busy top background competes with all the good stuff. Maybe try selecting the bushes behind the flower - keep its leaves as part of the design. Then add softer bokeh type of texture over the busy background which you can colour to complement what you already have going. Just a thought - You definitely are seeing more opportunities and taking better shots as you progress here. Well done.   Posted: 09/12/2023 16:49:50

Jacob, this is one of your best efforts yet. The sunflower is gorgeous. The background and its greens set it off quite nicely, but what makes it for me is the fence line right below the flower that cuts the image in half. I love that crop. It's quite striking and you should be pretty proud of it. Nice capture and nice processing.   Posted: 09/12/2023 18:06:27

Hi Jacob,
Greetings.
An amazing portrait of sunflower, you captured here. It's a great image for a phone camera. It's quite intriguing, what they can do with a phone camera.
Lovely capture and presentation.
Thank you for sharing.
Cheers.

Jacob, this is a beautiful sunflower, the colour is vibrant and strong so much so that I don't even notice the background. My eyes are fixed on the colour of the flower. Just lovely.   Posted: 09/15/2023 05:31:54

I really like how the sunflower fills the screen, and the division of the image in half (though it may violate some "rule"). The sunflower may be over saturated. Also, the black hole in the middle does not help. If it had the detail that you achieved around it, that would have been great. Also, careful of the left edge -- the leaf (or whatever it is) is cut off.   Posted: 09/17/2023 18:02:53
