As you can see Bob has gone down another rabbit hole. In Amsterdam Tulip garden there was this rusty fence that seemed to serve no purpose. In post I added it to Tulips that were in bloom everywhere. I composited a group of tulips with the fence and went looking for the perfect blend mode, Something that gave depth. It was in the center of the image but don't think it harms the composition. ISO 800,34mm,f7.1 and 1/400 sec. Thank you for your comments.

It's an interesting image though my eyes kind of hurt trying to look through the fence to find the flowers. Maybe removing some of the lines in the fence? There are so many and tight together. Posted: 08/10/2026 02:37:21
Thanks Marti. I generally always try to work with what I've been given. I often try to make Abstracts so they are sure to be unique. I work with a large monitor so I wasn't troubled, but that is a very good idea. Not sure if the remove tool will take out the bars without the flowers or I'll need to remove the bars from the original image first?

Hi Bob. My first thought was that I like the overall feeling of this and the mystery it creates. After seeing Marti's comments, I spent some time considering how it would look if you had parts of it unincumbered by the fence. I don't think just selecting a few flowers to show through would look right, but maybe if there was a 'window' showing part of the most colorful section. Thanks Doug. I agree the brighter image is appealing, however, I Used the high lights
adjustment so that the whites with color in them weren't blown out. It was an experiment and I'll keep the fence to see if it works with other subjects. Posted: 08/15/2026 02:04:38

Hi Bob, quite like the idea, certainly good to explore different ways of presenting an image. I like how the fence "cuts" through the tulips and "slices" them up, very clever. You didn't mention what blend mode you used but it looks like Multiply given the contrast. If the fence is too dominant, then try reducing the opacity so you see more of the flowers.
I don't have any issues on how it's presented, I still can see the shape of the flowers. It's very different and I like it. Posted: 08/17/2026 10:48:09

A bit late for my feed back. Ever since I saw this image, I could not found a way to express my take on this. But surely an experimental version of the concept. I think with this image brightness is a fair issue to be recokned with. I felt Doug's version appears strong and different than your version. I think this would be a nice example out of your original and final versions. Thanks for knocking my creative experimentation with the floral images.
