About the Image(s)

This is an old favorite Daylily from 2013 and it goes to show that looking at older digital files can be rewarding and fun. Besides updating the focus I removed the background and replaced it by using a copy of the original and using box blur on that original background. Benefit is same colors while removing distractions. I know, I didn't include the stem as its underneath the flower. Think of it as a Flower Portrait.
ISO 320, 210mm, F10, 1/200 sec, Nikon D300s?

I like the center portion however both the original and the final seem to be a bit oversharp or oversaturated to me.
I tried cropping it so that the flower gets cut off on all sides and reducing the saturation some.   Posted: 07/03/2026 23:32:19

Thanks for your feedback Marti. I don't have a problem with your cropping to center the flower, but you know there are others that will state to not center it. This daylily is a large bright flower with red and yellow. I try to leave the colors as they exist, in this case bright and saturated.   Posted: 07/09/2026 01:03:41

Love the splash of color on this one. The flower is vibrant (maybe too vibrant) and I love the drops. You also did a nice job on the background. You may consider just erasing the one stamen that completely out of focus.   Posted: 07/08/2026 23:21:22

Thanks Rich, but I didn't enhance these colors. That's the one I picked at the daylily farm. Remove a stamen, I have never even thought of that. But maybe I should.

Hello Bob,
Greetings my friend.
I like the subject of this edition, that you shared with us. I also like how you post processed and transformed the original in to the final outcome. As for symmetry is concern, the Marti's version fits the definition. Nicely done. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers.

Hi Bob, like Rich, I really like the strong, bright and vivid colours of this daylily and the water droplets adds to its beauty. You've handled the background well; it complements the flower nicely. Well done.   Posted: 07/12/2026 11:11:50

Nice flower -- and nice water drops. I guess I'm in the minority -- I like the original better, with maybe the greens darkened a tad, and the brown leaf changed. A few more things may need to be done to the original background, but I do like a flower with drops like this in situ.   Posted: 07/12/2026 18:07:26
