About the Image(s)

I took this image on a recent trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. It was in a large aquatic planter which allowed me to get the flower at eye level without having to get on to my stomach - a big plus. It was taken with my Sony RX10iv with the zoom lens at 45mm, 1/1600 of a second, F4. In post processing, I cropped to eliminate the second flower, and simplified the background to make a more graphic presentation.

Stunning as usual. For me, I'd like to see a little lightening of the reflected flower so my eye doesn't go back and forth between the two. And maybe a slight ripple in the water?   Posted: 07/03/2026 23:50:33

Ingrid, this is a beautiful image. The colors and composition are stunning. If I'm reading Marti's comments correctly, I have to disagree as naturally the reflected image is darker than the original. I believe that you have accomplished that. I do see that your original lets us know how you got such perfect smooth water and no foreign objects floating. I detect the edge of the container. What a great find for a perfect flower and reflection.   Posted: 07/09/2026 01:50:00

Great image & great title. Maybe the reflection could be just a bit darker.   Posted: 07/12/2026 18:19:50

This is so well done. Very creative and love the reflection idea. I have just one thought you might consider - erasing the cutoff pad on the right. This is what I mean - great image.   Posted: 07/12/2026 19:08:36
