About the Image(s)
Shot with Canon 90D, 100 mm macro lens, 1/500 sec, f7.1, ISO 200. One of the blooms of a dwarf snapdragon. I particularly liked the light pink colour, removed the background and used the pink colour of the flower to build the background. Added a bit of green for contrast.

Very nice. To be a little picky-I'd like to see a little more color or saturation in the bottom two petals and the right petal. To me it seems as they blend in too much with the background and get lost.   Posted: 07/03/2026 23:12:33
Hi Marti, thanks for your feedback, my main aim with this flower was to make the center part the main focal point. You'll notice that the outer petals in the background are soft whilst the ones in the foreground are relatively sharp. So to make it all even around the center was to put light leaks so that you can focus on the center.
I appreciate that others may have a different view on how the flower could be presented and so I've modified the background colour to be more of a "greyish" tone so that the outer petals can stand out a bit more. With this version, the soft petals are more noticeable which is not my preference.   Posted: 07/10/2026 11:33:53

Nadia, as always beautiful and drops to boot. I do agree with Marti, though, either the petals need more saturation or the background needs to be darker to separate the flower. Always a nice image!   Posted: 07/08/2026 23:28:14
Hi Rich, thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated. I've replied to Marti's comments (as yours is similar) and posted a revised version with a modified background colour so that the outer petals are more distinct.   Posted: 07/10/2026 11:43:14
Yes! That does it!   Posted: 07/12/2026 18:54:01
`A very nice image Nadia. I don't have any issue with the separation between the lower petals and the background. If I was to create it (hah) I would have dropped the background color tone a tad so that the flower jumped off the page. Probably just my style. Well done I defer to what you wanted to see.   Posted: 07/09/2026 01:12:13
Hi Bob, thanks for your feedback. My main objective with this flower was to make the center part of the flower the focal point of interest as the background petals are soft whilst the foreground are in focus. I lighten all except the center part to hide imperfections.
Given people's different views, I've modified the background colour so that the petals stand out a bit more but now, the soft petals in the background are more noticeable which is not my preference. But anyway, I like to show the difference.   Posted: 07/10/2026 11:48:47

I think I like this version the best. All three are great though.   Posted: 07/10/2026 13:10:49
Thanks Marti, very much appreciated.   Posted: 07/12/2026 11:14:40
Nadia, I prefer the darker background, thank you for changing. I think I see the softer petals now, but the overall image is better and that small detail, being the softer petals, does not trouble me. I'm just amazed that you have the ability to see and change these features. My days of correcting these kinds of details have faded.   Posted: 07/11/2026 20:58:54
Hi Bob, thanks for your feedback, I do appreciate member's comments as it forces me to go back and make changes to see if it adds and or improves the image.   Posted: 07/12/2026 11:31:33
Hi Nadia,
Greetings my friend.
A lovely presntation from the original rose. As usual you are the wizard of the background. Loved it, Thanks for sharing.
Cheers.

Hi Kamal, thank you for your thoughtful comments, it's very much appreciated.   Posted: 07/12/2026 11:13:18
Is there something in between these 2 versions? I agree that in the original, the petals bleed too much into the background (though often I like the effect), but in the darkened version, the flower becomes almost gross. For me, the water drops are a problem. If the drops are all over a flower, then the image becomes about the water drops as much as the flower, which is fine. Here the drops, for me, distract.   Posted: 07/12/2026 18:00:41
It's a single, small and delicate bloom of a dwarf snapdragon flower. Peculiar comment that you find raindrops on this small flower distracting. It's a natural occurrence and does not need to be removed. My preference is the image I submitted and I like blending petals into the background, especially as I wanted the center part of the flower to be the focal point of interest.
