Original

About the Image(s)

Shot with a Canon R6 Mark II, Canon RF 100mm Macro lens, 1.3 sec at f/ 9, stacked from 41 images by Helicon. My wife did not like the lighting on this leaf, thinking it flat and lacking in contrast. So I put more contrast into the image. I still kind of prefer the original. What do you think? Is this as good as my other leaves?

This might sound funny but I think the original, being darker (very slightly), seems to be more "dying". Any of your leaves have been excellent. I would like to see a stroke (very thin) in darkish brown to set the image off the black background.   Posted: 04/04/2026 15:34:57

It was an anomaly of downloading and sending. On my computer (and desktop after exporting the images) the original is brighter, with a little less contrast , than the submitted one. I have no idea why this happened. I tried several times, with no different result.   Posted: 04/04/2026 18:23:35

Doug, another Hosta leaf but somehow you manage to find them with all the various shapes? Regardless, you do a masterful job of capturing all their sharpness and stacking them together. I light the honey color and all the shapes.   Posted: 04/13/2026 03:48:16

Doug, I always love these studies you do of leaves. The curves, swirls, shapes and colors are always worth spending extra time checking out. Both you and I love to stack, and this is the reason why. I do think I like the original a bit more and wondered how this would look in a landscape composition. Here's a possibility. Nice job.   Posted: 04/13/2026 17:33:49

Rich, I had a problem with Dougs image loading and unfortunately I didn't get it loaded until after Marti had made her comments. I made judgement that pulling the original at that point would cause more questions. So in my mind the images are the exactly the same.   Posted: 04/15/2026 00:28:53

Doug, I always enjoy your the way you make those dying leaves look so beautiful. How you bring out the colour, texture, lines and shape is just the language of nature. Just lovely.   Posted: 04/18/2026 11:00:58
