About the Image(s)
This image was taken with my Nikon D7100 with a 105mm macro lens. It was taken on site at a Botanical Garden near my residence in Michigan. 1000/sec, F8, ISO 200. In post, I cropped the image, selected the flower, changed the background to black and removed some imperfections.

Generally speaking, flowers n full sun are too harsh. In this case, I rather like the effect -- it certainly is vivid!   Posted: 12/10/2025 03:11:50
Yea, I agree with Doug here, I rarely like flowers in full sun but this one works. The two stems frame the flower in an interesting way. The is one particular petal, just to the right of center I'd tone down a bit, but great job.   Posted: 12/11/2025 17:51:07
Ingrid, I agree that this is a very nice vivid image. The proceeding gentlemen assumed it was taken in full sun, but I don't see it in your comments and wonder if you could clarify. The stems work very nice for your composition. Great Job.   Posted: 12/12/2025 16:07:47
I'm going to disagree with the stem. In the original, the stem leads to another flower. To me, it seems awkward to see the top stem coming out without seeing what it leads to.
I do like the coloring and sharpness of the image. Even the little hairs on the stem are sharp. Nice job overall.   Posted: 12/16/2025 23:09:16

Hi Ingrid,
Greetings my friend.
I wish you have a lovely holidays ahead.
A stunning image of "the Yellow Gerbera Daisy", I like the final outcome from the original. I also like the background you have selected from the original to strike out the subject popped out. But I was thinking, to loose "the upper green stem" with the flower. This will probably make the image perfect for the frame. I used cs6 to remove the stem for us. Take a look.
Thank you for sharing.
Cheers.

Hi Ingrid, like the others, I also avoid shooting flowers in the sun. However, I think you've handled this image well as it doesn't seem to appear harsh. I can't seem to completely make up my mind about the stem at the top right as I like the contrasting colours of the green with the bright yellow, it's a balance. I do find the yellow border a bit strong and for me, it's a bit distracting, perhaps a finer border and softer buttercup yellow. Quite enjoy your work.   Posted: 12/18/2025 10:26:46
