About the Image(s)

This " White Poppy Blossom", the subject also known as "Poppy Flower" was shot at a farm house known as "Astras" on 4th December 2024 in Bangladesh; I visited the farm in Early December in 2024. The farm remains filled with many gardens of seasonal flowers including wild flowers.

I used my Samsung S 23 camera for the images (It was past midday and I shot hand held ). Having f 1.8, ISO 50 with no flash, I captured the image.
With the subject captured, I used Photoshop CS6 for editing and post processing (to crop, discard & slight light correction) to create this, out of the original image before submission.

I hope you will enjoy the image and kindly give me your feedback on it.

Nice work. I like the textured look you've given this image. I would like to see the stem of the main flower though - maybe lighter or less texture? For me, the background seems to compete a little with the main flower. Perhaps toning down the flower buds in the background? Maybe removing the one in the top left?   Posted: 12/04/2025 20:39:32

Kamal, I like your steady improvement with little background distractions. (Yes I would have removed that flower bud & stem on the top left). Like Marti, I would have reduced the texture on the background to separate it from the flower.   Posted: 12/07/2025 16:45:29

Kamal, your work is getting so much better! The texture provides interest, though I might tone it down a bit, and the composition is great. The buds around the main flower frame it perfectly. Great job.   Posted: 12/08/2025 18:58:09

For my tastes, I prefer the original -- which is a very nice shot. The flower just looks too fake, to manipulated for my tastes. With just a little work in LR and PS, I think the original is a really good photo.   Posted: 12/09/2025 00:06:14

I like both your original and the edited version with the interesting texture. Your crop, removing the pink flower in the upper left corner reducing the space around the bloom, is absolutely perfect. The texture you have chosen makes it seem that the poppy is being viewed through a window with rain water running down it. It's a very interesting effect!   Posted: 12/15/2025 00:25:06

Took the liberty to try making a rather stark image out of the original.
In PS, Selected subject which picked up the flower (after cropping to get the other items out). Then created another file filled in black. Moved the selection over to the black file and added the stroke.   Posted: 12/16/2025 23:19:53

Kamal, your original image is beautiful, you've managed to capture the flower well, it's sharp and a nice composition. A square crop would suit it well giving emphasis on the flower and the surrounding buds.

I do like Marti's version of a black background against the white flower is very complementary.

Well done.   Posted: 12/18/2025 10:14:26
