About the Image(s)

Somewhat similar to last months. I took your suggestions and cropped. I also chose a background that had very little dark background. The difference is the light blending. My preferred, Large image at top, is screen blend and the other is Lighten Blend.
Do you have a favorite? Suggestions? ISO800,F 7.1, 1/2500 sec @ 65mm on my 28-300. Image taken back in 2009 on my Nikon D300. Dark water is a result of leaning out from my veranda and not getting the side of the ship and the water further out not having any seafoam. I found that images (flowers) without water drops were not realistic.

I agree that the original looks like it's sitting on top of a water texture. I don't know what you could do with the final but to me it appears like the water isn't "natural" with the flower. It seems too heavy on the lower left of the flower. Perhaps make that more opaque and adding some drops instead?   Posted: 12/04/2025 20:32:52

Thanks Marti for your comments and suggestions. My intent was not to make it look natural, but to use similar images that are a more consistent white and less water on the flower to replace the white high key and soft backgrounds that I never can produce. I'm also working on using the remove tool to control areas with more water.   Posted: 12/07/2025 14:31:21

Bob, I quite like this. There is a very emotional tone to it, maybe in the vane of beauty being wash away by the flood of time? Anyway, it's well conceived and I really enjoy viewing it.   Posted: 12/08/2025 18:23:40

Thanks Rich. I didn't think of that tone, it works and thanks for sharing.   Posted: 12/12/2025 15:47:58

I agree that the original looks "pasted on." Is there anything between the original and submitted? I think the flower needs to stand out a bit more. I like the idea of this unlikely juxtaposition.   Posted: 12/08/2025 23:51:45

Thanks Doug, I'll try adjusting the Opacity some more.

Hi Bob. I really like the result you have achieved with this, although, I agree that increasing the visibility of the flower a tad would be a benefit. However, I like this much better than last months, and having less dark places in the water may be why I like it more. I think you have this technique well in hand. Happy Holidays!   Posted: 12/14/2025 23:57:55

Hi Bob,
Greetings my friend. I wish you have a wonderful holidays season ahead.

WaterLily Splash - is a lovely image this edition, that you have shared with us. I loved the image but I have made the crop little tighter and played with the sue-saturation and shadow-highlights to achieve, what I recreated from your final image. I hope you liked it.

Thanks and cheers.

Hi Bob, I really like your latest creation. It looks quite realistic because you've used a water lily and if it was for some reason out at sea it would be floating and it would have splashes of ocean water on it. You've handled the water through the flower quite well and the water droplets on the flower adds to its credibility. Well done   Posted: 12/18/2025 09:32:00
