About the Image(s)

This "Floral Old & New" - DDG 80. also known as "wild rose" was shot at a farm house known as "Astras" on 29 September 2022 in Bangladesh; I visited the farm at the end of September in 2022. The farm remains filled with many gardens of seasonal flowers.

I used my Samsung S 23 Ultra mobile's camera for the images (It was an early morning and I shot hand held & without gimbal). with no flash compulsory, I captured the image. I used Photoshop CS6 for editing and post processing (to crop, discard & slight light correction) to create this, out of the original image before submission.

I hope you will enjoy the image and kindly give me your feedback on it.

Kamal, nice rose. I do like the composition of the flower and the pinks against the vibrant greens. Maybe it's the vibrancy of the green, especially on the right side, moves my eye from the flower. Perhaps you can try a bit of dark vignetting to highlight the blossom more?   Posted: 07/09/2025 17:35:03

The flower is very nice, but you do need to learn how to calm your backgrounds. I did it very simply in Lightroom by decreasing the greens & yellows in color mixer. There have to be ways to do it in CS6, though the on line version of PS with Camera Raw (same as Lightroom) might do it more simply. Also, be careful of harsh shadows. A difuser can take care of that problem.   Posted: 07/13/2025 00:28:01

Hi Kamal. this is a lovely wild rose and your capture of it is in perfect focus. The contrast between the pink flower and the green leaves in the background works very well. My only suggestion would be to crop the image to square, where having the flower centered is more intentional and to blur the background on the right, so it doesn't draw the viewer's eye away from the rose. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 07/14/2025 16:38:37

It is a very nice image of the rose. I'm going to disagree with the right side being distracting. For me, my eye gets drawn to the out of focus leaf on the left and the white spot next to the rose. I like the sharpness on the right side.   Posted: 07/19/2025 16:10:19

Hi Kamal, beautiful image of the wild rose and the colour is just lovely. I tend to agree with Ingrid, by cropping into a square would eliminate the distracting elements surrounding the rose. It would be good if you could darken the background so more attention is on the rose. You can use the black and white adjustment layer in PS6 with the blend mode set to luminosity and then use the green and yellow sliders to darken the background.   Posted: 07/21/2025 11:07:42
