About the Image(s)
This was an attempt to try to display the velvety petals on a Trumpet Flower from our backyard. I shot about 20 images and stacked them in Affinity Photo. Lighting was the key to get the detail in the petals and I had to backlight like crazy to get the translucency of the flower’s center. Hope you enjoy it.

I wish I could see an original of sorts but I realize you are stacking them. I find it very heavily weighted on the right side and with no stroke to show where the end of the frame is on the left. It just sort of flows out to the blackness on the left for me. The flower just seems "harsh" in color and tone to me and not natural. I do appreciate your attempt on what is probably a difficult subject.   Posted: 07/06/2025 05:35:47
Rich, I believe that your image captures "velvet" petals as I envisioned, but then again I have not seen this flower before. The lightened center piece looks odd, and not part of the flower, but that could be natural and . I'll defer to the ladies on the use of the "stroke" because I rarely use a stroke. Rich, if you had included an original it would have gone to address its parts, even if it didn't show the velvet nature. Up North we do have trumpet flowers on trumpet vines but your FL version must be another animal.   Posted: 07/08/2025 01:47:14
Hi Rich. I'm always impressed with your stacking ability. It does seem to increase the depth and richness of the textures and colors. I like the composition you have chosen, even though it is heavily weighted to the right. I also think that making the background black was the right decision. I especially like the shape and texture of the main center petal and the glowing nature of the center of the flower. I would probably clone out the two light yellow spots in the center, because they draw the viewer's eye without adding depth or detail. I would love to see the shape of the overall flower - does it look like a trumpet? Thanks for sharing, Ingrid   Posted: 07/19/2025 22:31:26
Hi Rich, this is very unusual, almost surreal. I really like the details in this image, the texture and the depth of the red colour. Also the contrast of the light and the shadows against the dark red adds interest.
I wouldn't not have guessed that this is a trumpet flower and like Ingrid would have like to see the original. Very nice and different.   Posted: 07/22/2025 11:06:11

Hi Rich,
Greetings my friend.
It seems bigger than the usual due to the tight crop.
But the composition is exceptional. The light and color is complementing each other.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers.
