Daffodil Fairy by Ingrid Lockhart

April 2025 - Daffodil Fairy

About the Image(s)

This month, I tried something a bit different. I had photographed a lovely ruffled daffodil, and noticed that it resembled a dress with flowing wing-like petals. Therefore, I created a composite, with a background of a blurred texture that included the color of the daffodil, and found a fairy-like head off of an antique greeting card on Pinterest, that actually had a daffodil hat already in place (so I guess it was meant to be.) I added a touch of a filter in Topaz studio, to give it more of an illustration feeling. She makes me smile, so now I just have to figure out what to do with her! Any suggestions for improvement would be sincerely appreciated and Happy Spring!

Had to be the first to comment - SO CREATIVE! I love every aspect of it. It's fun, whimsical, and beautiful all at the same time. The background is also perfect. I'd enter this is competition but you'll have to replace the face with something you shot to do so. Well done!   Posted: 04/05/2025 22:34:36

I laughed out loud. So cute and funny. I agree with Rich regarding the creativity. Perhaps taking a little of the background off the top? I'm of two thoughts-one that it would make the whole subject too centered or two-the face would be less centered. It's still a great image.   Posted: 04/06/2025 23:28:00

I also thought it was extremely Creative and unique. How about using a picture of a child of yours or a childhood image and get it printed and hung with your best. That's the extent of my suggestions. Just fantastic.   Posted: 04/13/2025 16:25:15

Not sure what to say about this Ingrid except to say I love it. I do compositing and thought this is just gorgeous and why didn't I think of something like this. Perhaps you might think of having very faint daffodils in the background to highlight the fairy in the garden or the garden guardian.   Posted: 04/20/2025 10:49:14
