About the Image(s)

This tiger lily grew very tall and so it was just at the right height for me to capture an image. Canon 90D, 100-400mm lens; 1/160 sec, f9, ISO 800. Camera raw adjustments and then in photoshop removed the flower from its background, lower the opacity of the background, inserted two textures behind the flower and also reduced opacity of the textures, tonal contrast, sharpened and did a square crop.

Very beautiful Nadia. The sharpness throughout the image works wonders. The background textures look very natural but a lighter background could offer more of a dreamy soft image.   Posted: 03/09/2025 12:45:27

Hi Bob, thanks for your feedback and I take your point about the background. My intention was to give an "impression" of the background flowers by making them more visible, otherwise the flower would look like it's floating. So here is another take.   Posted: 03/17/2025 05:40:05

I agree with Bob regarding the lighter background. To me, the lower portion of the flower seems to merge into the background. Otherwise it's a great image.   Posted: 03/10/2025 10:46:06

Yeah, very pretty. I like the choice of background, really goes well with the color pallet. I do think a touch more luminescence in the bottom part of the flower would help, but it's a delightful image.   Posted: 03/10/2025 14:37:20

I love the dark background & the way the flower is darker at the bottom. I think the background makes the blossom stand out wonderfully. I think this is quite up to your normal standards.
I tried to make a comment on the last day of last month, but was blocked even though I had made comments earlier that day. Now I know that comments have to be make earlier, but since I did not then, I will write what I wanted to. (That was wordy)
Anyway -- I love the idea of the two dahlias, especially since they are so different. I would blur the second one so it clearly becomes a supporting actor.   Posted: 03/16/2025 20:43:34

Hi Doug, thank you for your feedback on both of the images. Very much appreciated. I do like your idea of blurring the second dahlia and I think that might make the main one stand out more. You're right, it's a supporting element in the composition.   Posted: 03/17/2025 05:44:59

Hi Nadia. The quality, glow and sheen of this flower makes me want to reach out and touch it. The lighting and focus of the flower are perfect, but I agree that a slightly lighter background might be beneficial. This is a beautiful image!   Posted: 03/19/2025 01:37:02
