About the Image(s)

After some heavy rain I decided to take some photos of the magnolias before the wind destroyed them. Canon 90D, 100-400mm lens; 1/250sec, f8, ISO 800. Camera raw adjustments. In Photoshop, removed background and replaced it with some textures. Finished with Nik software Glamour glow preset to give a hazy look, then added some contrast and sharpening to bring out the rain drops.

Very nice. Love the color of the flower and the background you've created. To be really picky, it seems the lighter area around the top and right are like a halo whereas the the left side looks more textured. It is beautiful though.   Posted: 01/08/2025 04:59:05

Nadia, you've done a beautiful job of removing the background clutter and replacing with a natural looking background. Doing a great job bringing the water drops into focus and the composition is the signature of a great floral photographer. Can't think of a single change I'd recommend. Perfect.

Marti, really well done. Colors, focus, background and drops! What more can you ask for? Love it.   Posted: 01/09/2025 23:51:33

Hi Nadia. This an amazing portrait of a magnolia after a rain, and your extraction from the background and replacement with a contrasting background is flawless. I love the water droplets and the fact that they are natural as opposed to being added with a spray bottle - you can definitely see the difference. My only suggestion would be to work on eliminating the imperfections on the leaves along the stem below the flower, as well as darkening them. Their jagged edges and lighter color demand too much attention away from the beautiful bloom. Beautiful image!   Posted: 01/16/2025 02:01:39

Love it; wonderful. Wish I could cut blossoms out as flawlessly as you. I'm not sure about correcting the lower leaf; it does add realism to the image. Where in Nik does Glamour Glow live? Is it a stand alone?   Posted: 01/21/2025 18:14:36
