About the Image(s)

This little group of flowers caught my eye as they seemed to be competing for who gets the most light. Taken using a zoom lens to zoom in close but blur the background. Settings were 142mm, ISO 320, f2.8, 1/1600 sec.

Post processing done in Lightroom Classic. I cropped, masked the flowers and brightened them, masked the background and darkened it, then changed the color temperature to bring out blue tones that I felt complimented the yellow flowers.

Beautiful subject: check! Odd number of subjects: check! Diagonal leading lines: check! Very well photographed and processed. I like the revised color temp of the background. I also like the brightening of the blossoms, but I wonder if taking that one more step might be even better? Lovely spring image, Denise.   Posted: 04/11/2026 20:54:27

Thanks Jan! I'll play with the brightening a bit more.   Posted: 04/12/2026 17:34:27

You did a wonderful job of making those beautiful flowers really pop! Bringing out the blues really helped as did enhancing the contrast between the flowers and the background. This is a frameable, hangable image!   Posted: 04/11/2026 21:19:35

Well spotted Denise, the flowers really do look as though they are jostling for position. The blue tones in the background work well. I would be tempted to darken the background a little more in the lower part of the image, just to make those background flowers disappear a bit more.   Posted: 04/15/2026 14:22:54

I will play with darken the background a bit more towards the bottom. Thanks for the feedback!   Posted: 04/16/2026 11:55:35
