About the Image(s)

This image was taken on our recent holiday to the Rioja region of Spain. The Ysios winery is just outside the town of Laguardia and was designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, who also designed the Oculus in New York and the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.

The image was taken with my Olympus OM-1. I auto bracketed the image to make sure I didn’t get any blown out highlights. I made the following changes in Photoshop after initial processing in Camera Raw.

- Cropped a bit off the right of the image
- Removed a few distractions in the background.
- Replaced the sky as I wanted more wispy clouds
- Converted to mono using Nik Silver Efex.
- Darkened the background
- Did lots of dodging and burning to give the building a more 3D look
- Added a vignette using Nik Efex Darken Lighten Centre
- Finally I flipped the image

I must apologise for not providing any comments last month. We were away in Spain and I didn't really have much time while we were travelling around. I will make sure I get my comments in this month!
