I took this photo from the passenger seat, out the window of our campervan, as we were driving. I had been shooting in the wind, so my lens was dirty and so was the window! But I just loved the beautiful sunset vista. My aim with this was to leave the colours as I had seen them, and to create a very minimalist image depicting the feeling of this wide open space.

I opened in Photoshop and removed dust spots and distractions. There was a lot of noise, so I copied the flax seed head onto its own layer and removed it from the underlying layer. I applied a path blur to the underlying layer, hiding the noise. I stamped up, then used a brightness/contrast adjustment layer to brighten the centre of the image.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and suggestions.

This is a gorgeous image Mary. The colors are stunning; the ambiance is so calming. You did a great job with your edits. No one would ever suspect that your lens and window were dirty or that there was a lot of noise in the original. The plant silhouette is perfect. I have no suggestions for improvement. Well seen and beautifully processed.   Posted: 03/12/2025 15:51:42

This is beautiful Mary. I love that you left the plant in on the lower right. It adds a nice touch of life that reminds me that I'm looking at a landscape and not just beautiful abstract colors.

What a beautiful sunset catch Mary. I love the colors and the geometry of it.
In my opinion, This would make a beautiful panoramic image. I cropped a bit off the bottom and more off of the top. What do you think?   Posted: 03/13/2025 19:02:46

Mary, this is a beautiful image and you made it better. The blur really makes this photo so much better. I want to share that my blue hour shoreline photo did not do so well in a contest where I left the shore in. When I blurred the shore, it won a major contest in waterscapes. Do you have somewhere to submit this one? It is lovely.   Posted: 03/15/2025 14:14:02

A wonderful minimalist image which conveys the feeling of a wide open space. The complementary colours of blue and orange give the image impact and that lone seed head provides a point of interest.   Posted: 03/23/2025 09:46:06
