One of the things I love to play around with is PS blending modes. This image started with the close up shot of a succulent bush. My aim was to create an interesting abstract. I duplicated the original to create another layer. Then I rotated and enlarged the new layer. The next step was to experiment with various blend modes for that layer. I settled on Difference mode because it had the most impact. I also moved the top layer around over the bottom layer to see what effect that had on the composition. I ended up cropping it a bit to keep what I considered to be the best parts. Finally, I used PS filter gallery, texture, sandstone to give the image a little more of an artsy look.

Jan, some of the most impacting and beautiful images come from experiementation. YOur image attracted me immediately. It is absolutely stunning, in my opinion. I love the various transitioned colors. Blending mode really excells here. The various shapes emerge with clarity and appeal. At first, I thought I was looking at a macro of a beautiful flower. But this 'flower' is your stunning creation, using some simple and availabel PS tools!   Posted: 11/08/2024 19:48:29
