About the Image(s)

Another Photoshoot, this time at an old pub in Manchester to give a film noir feel. The model is called Mia Moore. Taken with continuous lighting, I positioned the rear light to get the back-lit effect on her hair, but then could not get the light out of shot. So a bit of Content Award Fill to remove the light, and then I added back a shaft of light to 'explain' the hair back-lighting and to give a slightly smoky after hours feel. I moved the chair in slightly so that I could crop a bit on the left side, but other than that and the mono conversion, not much else needed.
Canon EOSR5 + 24-105mm F4L Lens at 63mm. 1/25sec, F4.5, ISO400. Mono conversion in Lightroom, then finished in Photoshop.
PS - pleased to announce that I have just reached EFIAP/Silver for 600 acceptances in FIAP exhibitions with 130 different images. This one will be going in soon!

Another superb result from one of your model shoots Gordon. As always, your thinking and connection with Mia is the best staring point, followed by your capture, then processing and presentation. B&W always looks good, as we all know colour can sometimes take the viewer's attention away from what you are trying to show. Congratulations on another superb image Gordon and I'm sure Mia like s the final result.   Posted: 07/11/2026 07:40:19
