About the Image(s)
When the snow gets deep, deer occasionally spend the night in my backyard. It is a small yard but offers some protection because of the surrounding trees. The suburbs in my part of Ohio have had a problem with deer overpopulation. Last year the city began to reduce the population. They hunt and kill some of them and donate their meat to local food banks. This is one of the luckier ones. They shoot the females with a tranquilizing dart. Follow them until they drop and then take them to a veterinarian to be sterilized. At the same time tags are placed in their ears with a number and a specific color depending on the city in which they were caught. They are then taken back and released in the same location. Yellow is my city, so this one hasn’t wandered too far. This photograph was taken through my patio door window. The deer seem much more scared of humans now than in the past (I don’t blame them.) I just touched the handle of my patio door, and they were ready to run. I decided to take the picture through the glass. Lightroom did a nice job of reducing the glare and Topaz was also used to sharpen up the image. Nikon Z-5 II, 280mm, f11, 1/500 sec, ISO 6400.
