Photographer's Clouds by Ian Cambourne

April 2026 - Photographer's Clouds

About the Image(s)

So often we see a good scene but with a bland, boring sky. This particular day the photographer's clouds came out and showed themselves above the Murray River. I was both in raptures of joy and the depths of frustration at the same time. Joy because I was having a ball photographing these clouds and frustration because when I pointed them out to others on the houseboat as they came out, their replies were either "so?" or "mmm, I spose so". Anyway, I now have some more photos in my cloud library for use in sky replacements when I need them. Details are: Nikon D810; Nikon 24mm lens; ISO 100; F11; 1/250 & hand held. Can't remember if I used a CPL filter or not. Processed in LR & PS. Sharpened and noise reduction id Topaz Photo.

Ian, I prefer this image to your previous Murray River image. Lots more drama to the sky and I like that the central tree rises a bit higher than the others - enough to provide a focal point for the trees. Regarding cloud images, we all have those - take them looking out to sea for a clean horizon!   Posted: 04/05/2026 21:44:18

I say beautiful clouds that provided a nice composition.   Posted: 04/10/2026 20:46:12
