I’m always on the lookout for unique subjects, and when I came across this grill at our local downtown car show, I immediately saw its potential for a Halloween-themed image. The sharp lines and vintage details just screamed “spooky” to me. Since our town’s annual car show and swap meet attracts over 120,000 visitors, I knew this image would resonate with my community and make for a fun post on my Facebook page. I really enjoyed processing the photo with a Halloween vibe??”it was a creative challenge and a lot of fun to bring out its eerie character. Tech stuff: f.5.3, 1/500 sec, ISO 400, +1 step exposure bias, 30mm focal length. I used these settings as they are the ones I use for street photography.

Like the conversion to b/w.The definition of the clouds in the sky provide a nice backdrop to the dark car in the foreground. The shadows are dark enough though just lightened enough to see the textured ground. The reflections on the body of the car came out beautifully. It is apparent that a lot of thought was put into processing this image, Trey. Quite a difference between the original and the final image.   Posted: 11/17/2025 20:16:46

It's always great when you see a car that is obviously well looked after by the owner. Your low angle on this pretty much excludes all surrounding distractions and it is always surprising how much more you can push the contrast in mono to get detail back into the road and sky and show off those deep blacks of the car. Mono also mean the red car on the right is not a distraction, because that is black as well! Nice one.   Posted: 11/19/2025 15:34:01

Great work Trey. You really made the photo pop in processing. The reflection of the sky in the hood and the sky itself add a lot of interest to the photograph. Going to black and white was a great choice.   Posted: 11/22/2025 19:10:26
