About the Image(s)
This month we were in Bilbao in northern Spain, mainly to photograph the iconic Bilbao Guggenheim Museum. This is an early morning shot taken just before sunrise. We had hoped for some nice sunrise colour in the sky, but that only developed after the lights on the building were turned off, so the best shots were during the pre-sunrise blue hour.
Technical details: Canon EOS R5, Canon RF24-105mm F4L at 24mm, F9, 10sec, ISO250. Taken with a polariser to control reflections on the building and water and a graduated ND filter to darken the left side where the sun was coming up. In Lightroom - a bit of sky darkening and shadow boosting, then in Photoshop - correct the verticals, more lifting of shadows, enhance the golden glow, add some highlight details and shading to enhance the building curves and clone out the bright reflection of the light bottom right. In Nik Effects, quite a strong Lighten/Darken centre to concentrate attention on the building and a bit of soft contrast adjustment and glamour glow to further increase the soft golden tones.
