Buckingham Fountain by Henriette Brasseur

About the Image(s)

In the heart of Downtown Chicago is the Buckingham Fountain. In the summertime, the fountain is adorned with colorful lights. This image was taken with a long exposure to give movement to the clouds and water. The storm clouds in the nighttime sky had sort of lavender-purplish hue to it that gave a backdrop to the colorful fountain lights. Chicago is a photographer’s paradise with all the beautiful architecture, gardens, waterway and interesting sculptures in various parks,

Henriette, a beautiful fountain capture that is expressive. Lake Michigan can present quite a few opportunities for occasions like this. Long exposure was a good choice, and your use of it was quite effective. Kudos!   Posted: 07/18/2025 15:23:12

A great use of long exposure Henriette and suits this subject matter very well. 420 seconds (7 minutes) gives great movement to the clouds and water, which you say was your intent. Everything about this image is very good. A great image Henriette.   Posted: 07/24/2025 01:49:02

A very beautiful and creative image Henriette. Great colors and sky. How did you decide on 420 seconds? Did you take many shots and it came out the best at 420?   Posted: 07/25/2025 00:25:52

A very good long exposure image. You have handled the exposure very well, which is not easy considering that some parts are illuminated. I Like that the fountain in the front is slightly offset, which prevents it from 'blocking' the view of the main fountain. Nice work.   Posted: 07/28/2025 14:21:33
