About the Image(s)
I shot this image with my cell phone during a visit to Georgetown, South Carolina, an historic city near the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Since I live in Arizona, the green trees that over hung a street in Georgetown's Historic District mesmerized me. This image is right out of my Samsung Phone due to digital issues I'm experiencing.

Note to Rusty. I have tried three times to email you including once as a reply to your email to me. All emails bounce back to me as "Message undeliverable". Please send me a new email as a test so we can try to sort this out. Thanks, Ian.   Posted: 07/10/2025 02:20:15
Note to Ian: I sent another email to you last night with a subject labeled "test". If you don't get it, we"ll have to find another solution.   Posted: 07/10/2025 16:10:19
Rusty, these Southern trees are magnificent. I took one at Boone Hall Plantation of the roadway into it and the arching over roads is amazing. I think this image could benefit from some cropping (see my example). There's too much sky. Also, by cropping, you can use the left road edge as more of a leading line. The image could also benefit from some dodging and burning to create more contrast (I did some in the example below). With a little post-processing magic, this can be a nice travel photo image.   Posted: 07/18/2025 15:48:42
A nice view of the beautiful trees of Georgetown, South Carolina. As Trey mentioned, cropping from the top would really enhance this image so the viewer wouldn't be distracted by all the white sky at top. The green leaves and shapes of the branches have a nice flow in the image...a very pleasant and peaceful scene.   Posted: 07/24/2025 01:17:28
A great image Rusty, well done. When it comes to cropping or removing anything from an image I always ask "By removing this, will the image become any weaker?" I don't mind the amount of sky in your image, but I also agree with Trey and Henriette, it's just a matter of personal opinion and the photographer's own preferences. One thing though, I do prefer to see that tree trunk on the right or your image. It's good to see the branches on the right coming from a tree, rather than just coming in from nowhere. But that's just my personal opinion.   Posted: 07/24/2025 01:44:02
Very nice photo Rusty. Sharp throughout and I like how the red stop sign stands out in all the green colors. Nice leading lines in the photograph.   Posted: 07/25/2025 00:31:05
Rusty - welcome to the group. This is similar to Ian's image of the path through the trees, and I think similar comments apply. For me, the interesting part is the 'tunnel' effect of the road through the trees, but too much sky distracts from that. I think Trey's crop is quite effective, but of course it's your final decision. The red stop sign gives a nice focal point at the end of the 'tunnel'. Shame about the pick-up truck which interferes with that sign a bit, but I suppose it was parked, so not much you could do (except a bit of cloning perhaps?).   Posted: 07/28/2025 14:31:32
