Converting to back and white is a good choice for this image. Things kind of get lost in the colored image but with black and white rendering and cropping the image takes on a new life. There are circles, rectangles and vertical lines that make this a visually interesting image. I like how the viewer is visually drawn into the image both with the bar on the door and the black rug...also the repetition of the bicycle at the top of the entrance way and the bicycle in the back. There's a lot to see in this visually interesting image. I think you would be good at street photography as you seem to have a keen sense of everyday life that the casual observer might miss. Nice processing also, Trey.   Posted: 03/17/2025 11:35:16
Thank you, Henriette. I immersed myself in street and B&W photography this past summer and fall.   Posted: 03/17/2025 11:37:49
Quite a busy image, but I agree that the conversion to mono simplifies it and allows us to pick out the various shapes. The open door is an invitation to enter the image and explore the bike shop. The bike right in the middle of the floor provides a focal point and the other one over the door gives a nice sense of repetition, so there are some good composition elements. Now, being very picky, there is a tiny bit of bright wheel remaining on the right side of the image that I would suggest either cloning or cropping out.   Posted: 03/21/2025 17:16:57
Nice shot Trey. Great in black and white. It is a very inviting photograph, makes me want to walk right into the shop. I like the bicycle wheels hanging from the ceiling and all the interesting parts in the store. Nice work cropping to remove unnecessary objects in the doorway.   Posted: 03/21/2025 17:32:18
Another strong image Trey, with excellent framing looking in through the open door. Yes, I agree b&w is the way to go with this one. Itis also good the way your tones have maintained a metallic look to certain details.   Posted: 03/24/2025 21:47:34
