About the Image(s)

While winding along Waupaca County’s backroads, I came across a scene that captured everything I loved about Wisconsin’s rural heart. A blue-tiled roof peeked alongside the rich tapestry of autumn’s orange and gold, standing like a beacon in the gentle landscape. Just as I pulled over to savor the view, a yellow school bus eased to a stop nearby, releasing its children. A John Deere tractor with a wagon attached sat proudly in the yard, bathed in the warm glow of the late afternoon sun. It felt like a Norman Rockwell painting brought to life ??” a snapshot of rural charm preserved through generations. Here, in Wisconsin’s quiet backroads, I saw not just a farm, but a place where time seemed to linger. Tech stuff is missing because I took my battery out of the camera and the internal battery that affects this was drained out. I did expose for the sky, I was shooting as ISO 100 and had a polarizer on the lens.

Good autumn colour which contrasts nicely with the blue roof of the house. Also a good looking property and the school bus adds feel of rural America to the scene. Of course we also have the farm buildings which are a bit less attractive, but that's all part of the story. I think the processing is about as good as could be done, so well done on capturing and presenting the scene.   Posted: 11/12/2024 11:45:28

Wow Trey, you really brought this image to life. I love the harmony of colors in this image
from the school bus, trees, house, grasses and barn. The colors all go so well together. The curving line of the road and its continuing line brings the eye to the cluster of buildings. The picture is all the more interesting because, even though it's small in the image, is the school bus. All these elements really add visual interest to the image. Well done, Trey.   Posted: 11/17/2024 02:35:26

This image is seductive because it tells us about a slice of rural life, and it's very well composed.
My gaze swept the scene several times, and the school bus is very important indeed, as it's at a strong point in the picture.
My only regret, perhaps just to say something, is that I would have turned off the ground a little to bring out the roof of the house and the bus. But that's about it. Well done and thank you for stopping to share this moment.   Posted: 11/18/2024 01:40:18

"turned off the ground"? Do you mean darken? I did use a gradient on the bottom grass to darken and the strong late afternoon sun really lit things up.   Posted: 11/23/2024 18:13:24

Congratulations on a great pano Trey. Everything you mentioned you were after in this scene, is visible to us as viewers. I'm always pleased to see when a photographer deliberately "shoots big", with a vision of their final desired image in mind. We can see that all things in this image are sharp so not knowing all the camera settings is not really important.   Posted: 11/25/2024 03:23:44

Beautiful country shot Trey. Many interesting things to look at with the pretty fall colors. The only thing nicer than the photograph is your description of it.   Posted: 11/28/2024 01:50:05
