About the Image(s)

This is captured in the lake covered by fog.
Contrast of fishing boat vs. swimming duck found interesting.

Let me know what you think.
Also I would like to invite your suggestion to improve this.

Hey Haru, I really love your fog shots. This one is really good. I did not see anything to change. I do hope you don't mind that I gave it a little "antique" look. I still love your shot and probably would not change it, unless I was going to print it and put it in my guest room full of antiques. Nice shot again.   Posted: 09/05/2023 14:51:50

Really moody shot, Haru! It's so difficult to achieve focus in fog, but I think you captured the essence of the scene very well. The reflections are fantastic. For me, the subjects … the boat, the duck, and the trees to the right of the boat … feel too far away from each other. The duck especially seems too distanced from the other subjects and too close to the bottom of the frame. It doesn't have room to breathe. The tree behind the boat creates almost a thumbprint shape, or dark oval, which distracts me a little, so I tried a more landscape/panoramic crop, but I don't think it's any better. I like the mood your image creates … peaceful, still, very noir … and that's what is important!   Posted: 09/07/2023 15:11:38

Hi Stacey,
Thank you for your comments. Your comments covered all the points I wanted to ask actually.
I do have the version without the duck, but I posted this to see the reaction of the viewers.
Again thank you!   Posted: 09/08/2023 00:46:33

I like this scene and mood created by the fog. I think the focus is fine for the conditions. I did try to lighten the boat somewhat but it created a distraction and took away from the mood. I do think the duck is too far from the overall scene and would eliminate it by cropping.   Posted: 09/08/2023 11:05:06

Greetings Haru. I was conflicted with this image. The mood is very apparent and the title works with the duck and the presence of men in the boat. But I had a problem with the great distance between them and the lack of definition on both subjects. I think the problem is the great distance from the camera, which could not be avoided.
I did try a few things on it. In PS, I cropped it tighter eliminating the duck (which is not in focus). Then I zoomed on the boat and painted more white and more black on the men then the boat itself. Then I selectively darkened the tree area just to the right of the largest area. I also painted some of the rushes to the left of the middle trees to they stand out better.   Posted: 09/11/2023 08:58:32

Hi Haru, I love the moodiness of the image but do prefer it without the duck. I think that the slightly panoramic crop is better but a lovely image yet again   Posted: 09/19/2023 14:59:41
