About the Image(s)
This image was taken on a Club field trip to a local farm on one of the few days we actually had some snow. What caught my eye was the overall flatness of the scene due to the lighting of the field leading through the few bare trees to the back, and the flat sky. I took this with the intent of making a BW image and did not keep the colour image although I have the raw file on a separate external drive.as it was really lacking in any colu=our. Taken at 36mm, (Full frame equivalent 54mm) ISO 200, F5.6, and 1/100 sec

Hi Ed, thank you for sharing.
It presents cold winter season. Flat light, a bit of snow on the branches. I like the concept.
As for composition, it is a bit busy for me. The tree on left has really unique character so it got my attention, however, center of attention is the tree on the middle. And the branches coming from top is a distraction for my eye. I might try to crop the top to reduce the volume.
But again, I like your attempt and challenge in the winter!   Posted: 02/18/2025 22:24:32

Hi Ed. I agree that it is a little busy, but I tried removing each tree individually, and it did not work. It really has to be the trio. However, I really like the MOOD of the photo. My eye is drawn to that left-had tree, and the bark confuses me - it may be an accumulation of snow on the trunk, but it makes that trunk look out of focus or blurry. I just wish that there were some hills and valleys in the snow on the ground to give the image some dimension.   Posted: 02/19/2025 19:04:05
If I remember correctly it was the bark, but I am going to give the suggestion a try a bit later
thank you

Hey Ed, tough composition as pointed out, especially with the hanging branches near the top of he image. I'd be curious if you got down real low to capture more of eh snow foreground and then have multiple trees as the background? Although shooting snow has it's challenges...   Posted: 02/19/2025 22:39:13
Hi Ed, no did not get down low due to a physical limitation and i was using my crop camera without a tilt screen so could not do that, It was a poor day in many ways but the ideas given so far have given me some food for thought. Once the weather clears up and I can use my hand fully I am going to try some of the ideas given.   Posted: 02/19/2025 23:11:46
Hey Ed, I hear you! As a friend of mine says, " I can get down fine, but getting up is another question"...grin! Keep at it!   Posted: 02/20/2025 12:10:43
