The Sun Voyager is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason in Reykjavík, Iceland. Sun Voyager is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
This was taken 2017 during a trip to explore this Island Nation. This is perhaps the busiest spot in Reykjavik for photo opportunities, so getting it without people is impossible. It required a great deal of work to remove children, shoes, and parents, but the spot is iconic and I really wanted this as beautiful spot that would remind me of my trip to this country. Remarkable place, remarkable people, and beauty beyond all imagination.

Great job removing those distractions and mission accomplished bringing home such a unique memory of that trip - great composition, DOF, detail, light and reflections -   Posted: 04/08/2025 15:03:59

Congratulations on a great image Sherry. Yes, one of the strongest purposes of our photography is to provide memories. Iceland is one of the countries I would love to visit. Photographically, this is strong in all aspects, composition, angle of view, positioning of the elements before you, exposure and of course, your removing of all those "distractions and unwanted elements." You should be very proud of this finished image.   Posted: 04/18/2025 23:03:57
