What a beautiful and peaceful scene and a great composition - almost dreamlike. That said, I thought the scene was so beautiful that it needed a bit more contrast, so I added texture and contrast across the board and added the skylight filter twice in the Nik Suite to bring out the color a bit more. Having done that, this may not be the scene you saw, but I liked it so much I wanted it to pop a bit more. I also cropped in a bit and place the horizon line on the rule of thirds line because I thought it was a little better balanced that way - LMK your thoughts   Posted: 03/05/2025 16:14:34
Thanks for your comments Butch. I appreciate your thinking and changes, but. sometimes I prefer to show and see images with their softer pastel tones, not all images need to have punch. Rule of thirds, along with many other "rules" are considered "guidelines" by myself and many friends of mine. Sometimes in our photography, which is just basically and art form that is open to many interpretations and opposing thought, near enough can be good enough, especially when we want elements in our images to not be crowded and have a little space around them. Again, I do thank you for your thoughts.   Posted: 03/30/2025 21:04:47
Beautiful image Ian.....Very soothing and peaceful! I love the mist further out and the random arrangements of the rocks.....it would have made up for the early rise required to get this image!
I like Butch's thoughts too, but the image does lose some of it's gentleness with the "punch added". Having said that , it is always amazing to me how one beautiful image can be interpreted so many different ways, both with their own unique advantages.   Posted: 03/22/2025 19:16:00

Thanks for your comments Sherry. Yes it was as early rise, but the resultant photos made it very worthwhile. Another photographer who lives at Forster joined me during the sunrise and said he goes to this beach every morning to capture the sunrise.   Posted: 03/30/2025 21:08:52
