About the Image(s)
This is photo was taken just outside of the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I had left the park and was driving west through northern New Mexico when I saw this cloud formation over the Rockies. I stopped my car and stepped outside with my camera to get the shot. I haven’t seen a cloud like this since.
This shot was taken with a Canon 6D MKII, with a 70-200 mm lens. Settings were 1/250th, with ISO 200, at 70mm and f/8. I did post processing with Lightroom and converted the image to monochrome then used Topaz to denoise and sharpen.

Jsu a fantastic image and I love it in B&W. There is not one thing I can add to this gorgeous image.....other than I would print it and hang it on my wall! Awesome cloud formation. And those mountains set it off nicely!

Thanks for the feedback Sherry. It was a fun image to work with and the B&W was easily the best format as there was very little color in the scene.   Posted: 01/16/2025 22:21:30

A superb image Gary. B&W does suit it very well. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the clouds. Your main cloud has a good sense of movement, while the ones to the right "appear" more stationary. To me, that makes a viewer stop, look and ask, rather than just walk on by.   Posted: 01/17/2025 23:59:11
