About the Image(s)
There is a spot in Central California where the Elephant Seals come to have their pups. Begins in December and may go through midway into January. Some adolescents stay all year. This is a pano of the area where they hangout, but it is also a landscape of the Central Coast of California - ANYWAY,
Nikon D850, 24-70 lens at 35mm, three shots stitched together, ISO 250, F14 (as I wanted some of the foreground in focus) at 1/320 second.

A really strong image. Well suited to the pano format, which is one of my favorite formats. Just enough foreground to give the image a strong base to sit on and the "sunbathers" give a great story. My only concern is that I'm seeing some banding in the sky, but that could just be my monitor.   Posted: 12/12/2024 01:44:21

Ian, The original does not have the banding ......artifact of getting it to 1mb or less.   Posted: 12/12/2024 18:34:40

Ian - I have them on my screen as well, but the original not - Sherry is correct in the artifacts - only wish those artifacts were worth some money. Probably not ancient enough.   Posted: 12/12/2024 18:53:26

Nice pano Dave. The image does capture the coast line and you have a nice foreground with the seals. The seals do fill the beach area, and I like the curve of the beach to the right that brings my eye back around and into the water.   Posted: 12/17/2024 21:07:25

The image combines my favorite things, coastline and wildlife! And ignoring the banding, the image has so much to offer, the coastline, seals, and that beautiful stretch of beach. Significant amount of work to put all those together, but panos are difficult to display on this website, especially ones this large.   Posted: 12/17/2024 21:45:34
