Aarhus Scandinavia by Nigel Dalton

July 2024 - Aarhus Scandinavia

About the Image(s)

This image was taken on a recent cruise around Scandinavia. I had been to Aarhus previously in 1969 when working in a band so was quite interested to see how it had changed - and it certainly had. I didn't remember a thing. The first morning I stood on our balcony on the way in and we were greeted by these angular buildings at the entrance to the dock area which presented an excellent photo opportunity. Just a bit of straightening and contrast applied here, nothing in the way of removal of objects or creativity.

These buildings look like a set from a science fiction movie! I've never seen anything like it. Excellent work in capturing the scene and illustrating how the very abstract architecture creates an unworldly scene. Perfect focus and exposure throughout. I think this is something you'd find in a travel brochure. A space alien would feel right at home here.   Posted: 07/02/2024 12:07:09

Nigel, agree with Mike that this area looks very futuristic. You captured it perfectly. Excellent city scape. I was amazed with these building so I went into Google Earth and the two big buildings weren't there just a few years back. Also the building on the left has a big green space courtyard right in the middle of it. Perfect exposure and very nice sky. Well done.   Posted: 07/08/2024 14:51:34

Nigel this is very well executed cityscape. The two tall buildings although having different shapes balance each others (almost same distance from the right and left border of the image) and help to focus the attention on the bright buildings in the middle. The sky with some soft blue tones help to convey a feeling of calmness.

Well done

Stunning picture -interesting buildings, good reflections, great sky, nice light. Perhaps lift the shadow areas?   Posted: 07/21/2024 13:16:02

Thanks for all your comments. If I had slept a while longer I'd have missed this! There is a bonus for being a light sleeper. I like the shadows where they are Andrew, there's enough lighter areas to balance them with I think.   Posted: 07/26/2024 11:02:27
