About the Image(s)
This image was taken recently in the Peak District of England. We went on an impromptu walk about down Wolfscotedale, Beresford Dale and Dovedale (for those of you across the pond who want to Google images of the area). We had seen this cottage in previous years and the light was just catching the cottage but the surrounds were in more shade so I stopped to take a quick image. I love this area and the cottage just comes at a convenient point to take a seat and a drink after 15,000 steps.

Looks like a lovely place to see. You did a fine job of composing this. I like the steep hills in the background, which tend to create a beautiful setting. I only wish the vehicle wasn't in the image. Seems to take away the Old World charm of your image.   Posted: 09/01/2023 11:42:25
Nigel, this is an absolutely beautiful image. Do agree with Mike about the car and I toned down the green house in back a tad. Tried to find it on google earth but could not. The leading lines of the shrubbery and walk-way lead your eye right to the cottage. Would love to see it in person. Looks as though the hill goes straight up. I think your exposure and perspective were perfect.   Posted: 09/02/2023 18:47:49
Nigel this is a nice image with a good composition and is sharp. The trail in the foreground help to lead the eye to to the house. I agree that without the car the image is definitively stronger as shown by Tom work.
Best wishes

the composition using the path as a leading line is a thoughtful touch. photographing the house at this angle emphasizes the lines of the house well.
might consider lessening the shadow on the house and darkening the driveway, if you want the viewer to focus on the house.   Posted: 09/06/2023 11:27:06

I like this balanced image. It gives a good comfort to my eye with the color and the scenery. I would try reduce the hightlight of the bright path and white fence.   Posted: 09/07/2023 18:35:49
