October 2026 - First light at Maroon Bells

About the Image(s)

To be there requires a permit ahead of time and I missed that. It took lots of effort to be there. Yesterday I got up around 5:30am and sunrise at 7:07am.

Composed from 5 HDRs with a tripod. It went through my normal LR&PS process. Nikon Z8 with 24-70mm, f2.8, f10, ISO 200, 38mm, A priority.

John this is a gorgeous image of Maroon Bells. I really like the location that you shot the image from with the stream entering in the lower left and drawing your eye to the yellow foliage then on to the mountains. John, I wouldn't change a thing.   Posted: 10/04/2026 13:23:54

The Maroon Bells really live it to their name in your image. You definitely captured the "maroon" colors. I admire your effort to capture this shot. The golden aspens along the shore work extremely well to draw the eye into the picture and direct them to the mountains in the background. Nice job!   Posted: 10/05/2026 13:23:33
