Gion is a historic district in Kyoto, Japan, famous for its traditional wooden machiya houses and stunning geisha culture. You captured an attractive streetscape. Excellent sharpness from your position all the way through the image. The street, buildings and lights draw the eye into the image. It appears there is a bit of dead space at the bottom. I suggest cropping from the bottom a little to bring the street scene closer into the frame.   Posted: 04/01/2026 13:18:25

Thanks Mike, those are really good feedback. I'll crop up from the bottom to remove some of the empty street for a tighter image. Best regards.   Posted: 04/01/2026 16:04:51

I like this. A really busy street shot at night. My take on the space at the bottom is that is helps balance the busy main image although I would have removed the white disks (manhole covers?) as they are distracting. Well taken.

It's a great capture. I like the composition, color tune and sharpness of the image. I know this location very well and good to see the photo.   Posted: 04/03/2026 17:29:10

Dennis,

you capture well the atmosphere of this busy street at the "blue hour". I think the image technically impeccable. I would not change a think in this image, is an excellent urban landscape with people. The empty road space to me is not disturbing in this image but as Nigel said helps to balance the image. The manhole covers are part of the urban landscape and I don't see a reason for removing them.

Best wishes

Dennis, I really like this image. It has great visual impact and interest. Has great color, sharpness and definition. What is great about Digital Dialog is that everyone has their own opinions. I like the base area as a lead into the busy urban city image and the man holes don't bother me but the one thing that does is that cable / wire dead center of the image. Easy enough to remove. The smaller wires above are not objectionable. Great eye!   Posted: 04/08/2026 00:24:25

Nice capture of a busy city street scene. The cool sky color and the warm street lights work well together. The street leading to the distance gives a sense of exploration. Agree with the above comments to crop some of the empty street in the foreground.   Posted: 04/08/2026 15:23:30
