Starry Mono Lake by Spring Zhang

November 2025 - Starry Mono Lake

About the Image(s)

This is a 5-minute exposure of Mono Lake around 10pm right before moonrise. The light on the horizon was front from the rising moon. Polaris was not at the right position in the sky for me to get a full circular star trail, but the partial star trails still added quite a bit of interest to the sky.

It was shot at 35mm, ISO 3200, f4.0. Post processing included some saturation, dehaze and increasing clarity. I also increased exposure on the tufas in the foreground and in the middle to show some details.
