About the Image(s)
We were in Idaho in October and captured this image of shepherds separating a sheep ram from a band of 1,000 female ewes. I’m guessing the ram weighed around 300 pounds (I think it’s a good guess because I’ve been knocked down by a ram at our ranch.) I don’t know exactly why they wanted to remove it from the herd, other than they didn’t want it breeding. As you can see from the original image, I had to do a lot of editing in Lightroom to remove extraneous items, such as a telephone pole, cables and some sort of sign. I wanted this to show the story about life on the range, illustrated by the men, the sheep ram, the herding dogs and the massive band of sheep in the background.
